What Is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program that teaches functional movement patterns, or, movements that you find in real life – pushing, pulling, squatting, jumping, throwing, carrying, and sprinting. CrossFit can be used by everyone from police and military personnel to grandmothers, soccer moms, businessmen and kids. The needs of a grandmother and a police officer differ only by degree, not kind. Both needs call for functional fitness and the ability to meet the challenges of daily life.
The fitness we help our clients achieve is founded on the principles of General Physical Preparedness, Functionality, and Intensity. Our program delivers fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. There are ten recognized general domains of fitness- cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. We produce clients who are competent in all these areas, and can more effectively and efficiently deal with the unknown challenges of daily life, no matter what the obstacle. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.
True gains in fitness can only be achieved when the body moves in a functional manner. Functionality simply means our clients move their bodies in the way nature and anatomy intended them to move. We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities. CrossFit MTZ has pullup bars, kettlebells, barbells and wide open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing. Elements of track & field, gymnastics, weightlifting, and strongman are combined in short intense daily workouts designed to mimic movements performed in day-to-day life and to maximize results for any individual. We don’t train muscles and strength for their own sake.
Intensity is the ingredient where the true magic happens. Once our clients learn the functional movements and develop competence in the ten domains of fitness, gains are most completely and quickly achieved by intensity. Results are achieved from intensity of effort, not duration of effort.
Routine is the enemy of exceptional fitness and with our constantly varied programming you will never get bored. You will never have to program your own workouts. Instead, each day a workout will be provided for you that is scalable to suit your fitness level. And because our workouts always fit inside of an hour they can fit into even the busiest schedules.
